CHANTRY BOWMEN CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008
The club championships were held on the 27th July.
It was a beautiful hot sunny day, members arrived early to set up the field and we were ready to start by about 10-30.
Our Lady Paramount was Carol Leigh a new lady member and the field captain was Barry Armitage, it was nice to see a lot of new members taking part and also an older one John Houghton who has not shot out doors for a while.
The first distance got of to a good start with a few spot prizes added at the judge’s discretion the first one was shared by three people on three different targets who all split the line by half an arrow.
The air was full of friendly conversation and light-hearted banter even our field captain was seen taking a dance lesson from our Lady P.
For a full list of results you can go to our tournaments page or there will be one posted in the cabin.
I would like to add a final thank you to all those who helped and took part.
Yours
John Ferrier
Tournament Organiser.
Longbow Team Goes From Strength to Strength
The Chantry Bowmen Longbow Team has continued with its very favourable run of form by winning the Club's own 1st Sword Shoot. The impressive team, consisting of Martin Jordan, Mike Murphy and Colin Hope scored a superb 1023 between them. The team has had numerous successes over the course of the season and also has good depth to the squad. Well done fellars and keep up the good work. The winning team is pictured below. More photos may be seen in the gallery and the results sheet may also be downloaded from the tournaments page.

Chantry Bowmen Help Local Charity
Chantry Bowmen was recently asked to help out at Lord Scarborough's Sandbeck estate in aid of local charity Safe@Last.
Patron of the charity, Lord Scarborough, thought that archery might add
'an extra dimension' to his Clay Shoot day. The weather was atrocious,
but everybody that had a go at the archey did so with good humour as
well as a dogged determination. The day was very successful, raising
£11,215, and the club has stated that it will be only too happy to help
such a worthwhile cause if requested next year. Pictured below is the
range set up in front of the beautiful C17 house. More photographs are
in the gallery.

D&DAA WESTERN AT DANUM ARCHERS
A great turn out to a fantastic day, 9 members of chantry took part in the D&DAA western round at Danum. The weather was exceptionally hot, (not what we are used to).
Well done to everybody who took part, there were some very impressive scores.
Pete Titterton took 3rd Gent longbow.

Well done to our novices, (archers who shoot in competitions in their first year), Keith and Gordan, keep them scores rolling in. I put a PB in of 633 (91 points on my last PB) and got my first 6 gold end at 50 yrds.
Also at the AGM of the Doncaster and District Archery Association Dan Pearson was awarded " Junior Longbow of the Year, 2008.Well Done Dan.

ST GEORGE'S DELIGHT
The Club’s Longbow archers almost swept the field recently at this year’s St George Longbow Tournament in Morley. Colin Hope very nearly won the prestigious Royal Armouries Golden Arrow but had to settle for Gents Highest Score, losing out by only a single point. Martin Jordan
claimed Most Golds in the Gents competition whilst Daniel Pearson won Most Hits and Jason Davis won Highest Score in the Juniors competition. Mike Murphy won the prize for ‘Worst White’ and the fantastic Salmesbury Horn was won by the team consisting of Colin Hope, Martin
Jordan, John Ferrier and Daniel Pearson. Well done to everybody, on what was an awful day weather wise, for battling on and doing so well.
